What was the highlight of Departamento Playa REÑACA
Amazing stay in Reñaca. Worth every cent.
The location was perfect, walking distance from Con-con, just 15 minutes away from Viña by public transportation. The view was stunning, the apartment clean and tidy, the bed comfortable. The strip shop below has everything: bakery, fruit and vegetable store and an ice cream shop.

Bring your own cleaning products and gloves!
The host Diego is very nice and super attentive and quick in responding to emails. A coin laundry, a pool and gym are in the building. However, the gym could do with an update! Great WI-FI connection, a modern small apartment, great location but a bit noisy with the traffic and car wash in front of the building and the construction work. An outdoor pool (too cold to use while we were there). Nice sea view from the apartment, great location, a strip mall right next to the apartment, very secure building, cable TV (only one international channel though), nice shower. Comfortable bed.
It clearly indicates on Booking.com that foreigners (which is also the law in Chile) are exempt from the 19% tax when paying either in USD or with a foreign c/c. In this case the property does not accpet credit cards and I did offer to pay in USD but was still expected to pay the 19%. After I reminded Diego of the law he agreed to not collect the 19%. No safe box in the apartment, a broken door handle on the balcony door. A $16 ‘towel fee’ is charged PER person which confused us a bit since only a paper thin small bath towel and a paper thin small hand towel were provided per person. We stayed for 10 days so had to wash the towels we got. We never really worked out what the towel fee was for!? $32 for 2 paper thin bath towels and 2 paper thin hand towels?! The bedroom door was super heavy to close and open. We enjoyed very much our stay but did not like the cleaning system in this apartment at all. Although nothing is mentioned on Booking.com about the guests are expected to clean up the apartment for the next guests, a note hangs in the apartment with all the different cleaning dutites the guests are expected to perform at check out. Stating with which cleaning products one has to use. Well, there are no cleaning products in the apartment so I guees the guests are expected to purchase them as well as clean the apartment at check out. The apartment was absolutely not clean upon our arrival and we spent an entire afternoon cleaning that day. There was a terribly smell of urine in the bathroom which we had to go and buy bleach for to try and get rid of. There was a gross smell in the fridge (the fridge was filthy and we had to clean it before being able to put our food inside) of fish. There is no way the previous guests or anyone had cleaned the fridge prior to our arrival. I have never known any hosts to expect the guets to clean for the next guests. In our case the apartment had not been cleaned propery which resulted in us having to do it upon our arrival.
